These dark chocolate sea salt brownie mix cookies are one of the easiest cookie recipes! They only need a couple ingredients and are gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free. All you need is a box or bag of brownie mix, prepared to your mixes’ directions. The ingredients listed down below correspond to the mix I used, so yours might be slightly different. No matter the mix you prepare, I recommend adding gluten-free flour to make the cookie batter thicker and less sticky. Two absolute essentials in this recipe are a bar of dark chocolate (I recommend using dark chocolate sea salt!), and sea salt flakes for finishing! Both ingredients give the cookies their signature dark chocolate sea salt taste. These are one of my all-time favorite cookie recipes because the brownie mix makes the cookies so fudgy and chewy! They’re perfect for any occasion!
What You Need to Make Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Brownie Mix Cookies
- Gluten-free dry brownie mix: When testing this recipe, I used Fun For All Foods brownie mix. It’s free of the top 8 allergens and made in a dedicated allergy-friendly free facility. My mix was only 9.2oz, but most brownie mixes are about double this, so you will likely have to double the amount of flour the recipe calls for.
- Hot water: I like to boil my water in an electric kettle to make it quicker and easier!
- Egg: I haven’t tested this recipe using an egg replacer.
- Cooking oil: I usually use vegetable oil, but any oil you have at home will work!
- Gluten-free flour: I used King Arthur Baking gluten-free flour in this recipe. It’s one of my favorite flours for baking cookies because of how soft it is!
- Dark chocolate sea salt bar: My all-time favorite dark chocolate sea salt bar is from Videri Chocolate. Their entire facility is free of gluten, peanuts, tree nuts, egg, and soy! I was able to visit their chocolate factory in Raleigh, NC on a trip last summer, and it was a dream come true! They have very detailed allergen info on their website and offer a variety of chocolate bars and other fun treats.
- Sea salt flakes: I love sprinkling my cookies with Maldon sea salt flakes after baking them.
