A fun city in Texas to visit, Dallas has lots to offer, especially when it comes to delicious allergy-friendly food! During the summer, I drove up to Dallas from Houston to visit extended family and spent some time exploring the city’s food scene. Every place we visited was extremely accommodating and treated my allergies with care. We even enjoyed top eight allergen free Oatly soft serve at a baseball game! From dedicated gluten-free bakeries, to allergy-aware restaurants with a wide variety of options, to nut-free cookie shops, Dallas has a spot for everyone! Keep reading my Allergy-Friendly Dallas Guide for some of my top restaurant and bakery recommendations in the city!
Where To Eat
On my trip to Dallas, I ate at a variety of restaurants and treat shops across the city. Read the list to learn more about each spot and how they accommodate food allergies. You can also take a look at the Google map below to see where these places are located throughout the Dallas area!
1. The Cookie Crave
The Cookie Crave is a 100% nut-free cookie shop in Denton, TX. The owner’s son has nut allergies, so everything in the shop is clearly labeled as nut-free! They have tons of unique cookie flavors and also have a line of cookies that are all also gluten-free, vegan, and soy-free. The top 8 allergen free cookies are individually wrapped and have their own display case to avoid any cross-contact. We tried the lemon, sugar, snickerdoodle, brownie, and white chocolate vanilla flavors and my top two were definitely snickerdoodle and white chocolate! If you’re visiting Dallas, a drive to Denton to visit The Cookie Crave is definitely worth it!
2. Sundown at Granada
Sundown at Granada is a fun bar & restaurant with live music close to Highland Park. We ate here for dinner and had an amazing time! The menu is clearly labeled with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options and every ingredient in the dish is listed. There were only a couple tree nuts on the menu, and I was told the pesto is nut-free. They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer, as well as gluten-free pizza dough and burger buns. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about cross contamination and answered all of my allergy questions. I loved the parmesan pesto and chicken flatbread! We also ordered their chips and queso which was amazing!
3. Company Cafe
Company Cafe was arguably the highlight of my trip to Dallas! Everything on the menu can be made gluten-free, there are many vegan options, and the staff are extremely allergy-aware. The food was so good we went back twice! Some of our favorites were the fried chicken pancakes, and classic eggs benedict, and the french toast bites, which are all gluten-free. The frier is dedicated free of gluten and nuts, so all the fried food was safe! While tree nuts are present in the kitchen, they are kept separately, and all the staff were extremely confident everything we ordered would be safe from cross-contamination. Note: there is one smoothie that contains peanut butter, but it is made at the bar which is separate from the kitchen the food is prepared in. Highly recommend Company Cafe for any Dallas trip!
4. Karbach Brewing at Globe Life Field
Globe Life Field, home of MLB team Dallas Rangers, is sponsored by allergy-friendly brand Oatly! At several locations throughout the stadium including Karbach Brewing, they offer the brand new Oatly soft serve! It comes in vanilla and chocolate and is free of dairy, eggs, nuts, gluten, and soy! The soft serve comes out of a dedicated machine, so I had no concern about cross contamination. I loved the chocolate – it was so creamy and rich!
5. Origin Kitchen and Bar
Origin Kitchen and Bar is one of the best spots for brunch in Dallas. There are no peanuts and the kitchen, and almost everything on the menu can be made gluten-free! While there were a decent number of tree nuts on the menu, the staff were very thorough and made sure what I ordered was nut-free and avoided cross-contamination in the kitchen. They had a variety of options including pancakes, breakfast bowls, omelets, and sandwiches, but I ordered the banana french toast. It came with bacon and blueberry compote and was delicious!
